Generally, goods imported are classified under different tariff heading and assessed to applicable Customs duty. However, for setting up an industrial project, variety of goods are required to be classified under different tariff heading. Hence, classification and valuation for assessment to duty of such voluminous goods becomes cumbersome. Further, suppliers of the contracted project, do not provide value of every commodity and part of the machinery.  To facilitate smooth and quick assessment, goods imported under Project Import Scheme are placed under a single Tariff Heading 9801.
